Gemma collection – Selim Mouzannar
- April 12, 2019
It is undoubtedly the inspiration Selim Mouzannar drew from the flowers that cover the walls of houses in his neighbourhood of Achrafieh in spring that led him to name his new line Gemma; a bud in the true sense of the word, a metaphorical precious stone.
Nature is Selim’s main source of inspiration, and he likes to travel through the mineral world of each precious stone just as he likes to roam among the colours of nature in all its abundance.
The rectangular emerald cut, with its four corners and symmetrical facets, is a peaceful one for reflection, revealing its clarity.
The rarity of the emerald-cut coloured stones selected by Selim makes each individual Gemma ring unique.
Nude-pink morganite and crystalline aquamarine – sister beryls – reflect clear, pastel water, rhodolite is suffused with a deep velvety purple and tourmaline exudes the exhilarating freshness of a high mountain lake.
Each Gemma ring is numbered, and Selim has spontaneously chosen the colour combinations of the central stone and the one on either side of it, set in rose gold-enamelled edging to create a balance, a paradox or an emotion.
Each Gemma ring is as dramatic as it is irresistible, like the meteoric joy of nature in spring.
